Yatzy

About the Game

Yatzy is a turn-based dice game for two players. Roll five dice and complete 13 scoring categories. Each category can be used only once.

Rolling the Dice

Roll up to three times each turn. The first roll uses all five dice. Tap dice to lock or unlock them; locked dice are kept during subsequent rolls. You may choose a score without using all three rolls.

Choosing a Score

After rolling, select an unused category and press Play to confirm. If the dice do not meet its requirements, record zero. Confirming the score ends your turn.

Upper Section

Ones through Sixes score the sum of matching dice. For example, (1, 1, 1, 3, 6) scores 3 in Ones and 6 in Sixes.

Upper Section Bonus

Reach at least 63 points across the six Upper Section categories to earn an additional 35 points.

Lower Section

3 of a Kind: at least three matching dice; score the sum of all five dice.

4 of a Kind: at least four matching dice; score the sum of all five dice.

Full House: three of one number and two of another score 25 points. Five identical dice do not count.

Small Straight: four consecutive values score 30 points; the fifth die may repeat.

Large Straight: five consecutive values score 40 points.

Five of a Kind: five identical dice score 50 points.

Chance: any combination; score the sum of all five dice.

Five of a Kind Bonus

After scoring 50 in Five of a Kind, each additional Five of a Kind earns a 100-point bonus when you confirm a category.

Joker Rules

For a bonus Five of a Kind, you must use its matching Upper Section category if unused. Otherwise, choose an unused Lower Section category: Full House scores 25, Small Straight 30, and Large Straight 40. If all Lower Section categories are used, choose an unused Upper Section category and score zero.

Winning the Game

The game ends when both players have filled all 13 categories. The highest total, including bonuses, wins. Equal totals result in a draw.
